About
Hi, I'm Vega. I run small websites from my kitchen table — and these are my notes.
I live in Taiwan with my two kids. I'm not a US seller, I've never run an Etsy shop, and I don't sell a course. What I do have is a few years of actually earning from home in three ways: a family of parenting websites that make money from ads, client work running Facebook and Google ads for small businesses, and a daily AI workflow that lets one person do all of that around school pickups and bedtime.
I started an English-language site about "mom startups" a while ago and wrote it the way everyone writes those sites — lists of side hustles, statistics I'd copied from somewhere, methods I'd read about but never tried. Google's ad program turned it down for low-value content, and honestly, they were right. So I'm rewriting it here, under a rule I should have had from the start: only what I've actually done, with the real numbers.
What I actually do
- Content websites that earn from ads. A family of parenting sites — pregnancy, baby, learning, faith, and this one — on one AdSense account. The income is small and uneven at my traffic level, and the notes say exactly how small.
- Client work. I manage Facebook and Google ad accounts for small businesses. This is the most predictable money I make, and it's where most of my "freelance" notes come from.
- AI for almost everything. Writing drafts, building sites without a developer, making cover images, batching a month of posts, even the small tools on this site. I pay for a couple of AI tools and have cancelled several; the notes name them.
What you won't find here
- Income screenshots I can't back up, or "how I made $10K" headlines.
- Affiliate-stuffed product lists. There are currently no affiliate links on this site at all.
- Methods I haven't used, written as if I had. Where a note touches something I only researched — digital product sales, for example — it says so in the first paragraph.
How I keep the numbers honest
- My own figures are labeled as mine — site, month, and context — and they're shown as what happened, not what you should expect.
- Every other number links to a source you can open: a government page, a platform's own help center, a published report. If I can't find a source, the number doesn't go in.
- Each note shows a last-reviewed date, and I revise them when platforms change their rules.
- A tool in every article, so you can put your own numbers in instead of trusting mine.
How I got here
Before
A WordPress blog and a day job
Teaching children's English, then marketing work; the first site was a Chinese-language WordPress blog that grew slowly and cost real money to host.
Then
Client work: running ads for small businesses
Managing Facebook and Google ad accounts for local businesses in Taiwan — the work that still pays the most predictably.
2024–2025
AI changes how one person can work
Building sites with AI instead of hiring developers; moving everything off WordPress to static sites on a free host. A simple site now takes about half a day.
2025–2026
A family of sites, and one AdSense approval
chparenting.com was approved by AdSense on the first try; other sites were rejected for 'low value content'. That difference became a whole series of notes.
Now
This notebook
Rewriting an older site into these notes: only what I've actually done, with the numbers.
