Niche & Keyword Scorer: Check a Blog Idea Before You Buy the Domain

Score a blog idea on five things that actually predict whether it will earn — starting with whether you've lived it. A rule of thumb from someone whose first English site was rejected for low-value content.

Only read about itDoing it now

The single biggest factor. Google's helpful-content guidance asks for first-hand experience; so does your own stamina.

Maybe 10Easily 50+

List the first 20 titles before you buy the domain.

Insurance, software, finance, gear pay more per thousand views than general lifestyle.

Search 5 of your titles. If forums and small blogs appear, there's room.

Score

—/100

Weights: experience 30, depth 20, ad value 20, competition 15, audience 15. A rule of thumb, not a prediction.

How to use it

Type the idea, then move each slider honestly. The score is weighted — experience and depth together are half of it — because those are the two things that stop a blog after ten posts. The verdict text changes with the score; the row table shows where the points went.

Then do one more check

Write down the first 20 post titles. If you can't, the depth slider was too generous. If you can, the Content Calendar Generator turns them into a schedule.

Questions I get asked

Why does experience count for 30 points?
Because it's the thing I got wrong. A site about topics I'd only read about was turned down by Google's ad program for 'low value content'. Google's own guidance on helpful content asks for first-hand expertise, and readers can tell.
How do I judge competition?
Search five of the titles you'd write. If the first page is all large brands and publications, give it a 1 or 2. If you see small blogs, forums, and Reddit threads, there is room — give it a 4 or 5.
What does 'ad value' mean?
Whether readers of the topic are about to spend money. Advertisers pay more to reach someone comparing insurance or software than someone reading a funny parenting story. Finance, insurance, software, and health-adjacent topics score high; general lifestyle scores low.
Can a low score still be a good blog?
Yes — just not a good income project. Plenty of blogs are worth writing for other reasons. The score only answers 'will this pay'.
